Sweet As Candy![]() This tutorial was written by, and is copyright to, Kia ~ 18th May 2007. Please refer to my TOU I promise you this animation is running forwards, but sometimes the eye plays tricks and it appears to run backwards *giggles* The image used in this tutorial is © Jessica Dougherty. Please do not use her art unless you have a license to do so. License/Tubes can be purchased at http://www.creativeimagelicensing.com. This was written in psp 8 but should work in any version. For this tutorial you will need: Paint Shop Pro Animation Shop Plugins Mura's Meister -> Copies DSB FLux -> Bright Noise Supplies created by Kia If you are going to use my gradients, place them in your 'gradients' folder of psp. Tube and Font of your choice This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of your psp program and working with layers. Remember to save often. You can use this arrow to help you keep your place =) ![]() Open a new canvas 500 x 500 pixels; 72ppi; transparent background. ![]() flood fill white Rename 'background' Open up the 'bubbles' Colorise to match your tag. copy -> paste as 'new layer' - leave it centered. Rename as 'bubbles' Duplicate this layer Rename as 'bubbles 2' Make 'bubbles' the active layer. 'effects' -> 'plugins' -> 'mura's meister' -> 'copies' -> 'enellipse' -> settings as shown. ![]() Make 'bubbles 2' active Apply the same filter but change Shift X=65; Shift Y=65 'layers' -> 'merge' -> 'merge down' Select your preset shapes tool -> ellipse. Foreground=any color; background=OFF ![]() To draw a perfect circle hold down shift and then drag your tool from top left to bottom right. Aim to make your circle about 300 x 300 pixels. 'objects' -> 'align' -> 'center in canvas'. Select your text tool and hover over the cricle, the tool tip will change as shown. ![]() This will put your text onto your circle. Type a comment - I typed "Sweet As Candy" using font=margaritaville; size=20. Adjust the kerning/leading to make it fit as you wish. Kerning changes the distance between the letters. A postive number (ie 50) will make them further apart, while a negative number (ie -50) will make them closer together. Leading changes how close to the circle your text is. A postive number will make it further away (towards the outside), while a negative number will bring it closer to the center. Because we centered the circle first our text is also centered in the canvas. Once you are happy with your text 'X' out the part-layer with the circle (ellipse) on. Do not delete it as your text will spring out straight. Now you can convert this layer to a raster layer. Rename as 'text' ![]() Copy and Paste your tube as a new layer. Resize if required; 'resize all layers' OFF; 'smart size'. Rename layer to 'tube' Add a drop shadow to your tube. I used V=-3; H=3; O=50; B=5; color=#000000 OPTIONAL -> If you wish your text to appear part infront / part behind your tube (as in top example): Using your 'lasso tool' with feather=0; type=point-to-point (or freehand); mode=add; smoothing=0; anti-alias=checked draw around the part of your tube that you want to go behind the text layer, as shown ![]() 'selections' -> 'promote selection to layer' Do not deselect yet. Drag the 'promoted selection' layer below your 'text' layer Make your 'tube' layer active and hit delete. Deselect. Add your copyright info, license, watermark, etc on a new layer The copy right symbol is created by holding alt and pressing 0169 on the number pad. Convert to raster layer Rename this layer 'copyright' I used FFF Galaxy size 6 stroke and anti alias OFF If you don't wish to animate - stay on this page. If you DO wish to animate - let's go to PAGE 2 Add your name on a new layer. Convert to raster layer Rename this layer 'name' I used: IceCreamSoda size=72 Bold; stroke=2; foregorund=#DD151B; background=Candy (gradient supplied in zip) angle=315; repeat=7 I applied an inner bevel as shown. ![]() I applied the same drop shadow as I used for my tube That's it! I'd love to see your creations, you make from this tut, so send them to me HERE, remove the [nospam] and I will display them in my gallery. Remember to be copyright safe. Here is another version using the art of Lorenzo Di Mauro ![]() Return To Tut Index | ||
