Layer Properties

If the Layer Properites palette is not visible press F8;
or right click on a toolbar or palette to bring up the menu.
Hover your mouse over 'Palettes', then select 'Layers'.








 The Layers Palette looks like this:





1. Name
2. Visibility
3. Opacity
4. Blend Mode


 Blend Mode

To change the blend mode of a layer in PSP8 | PSP9
Click on the little arrow next to the word "normal" and you will get a list of blend modes - just click on the one you want.

To change the blend mode of a layer in PSPX | PSPX1 | PSPSX2
Click on the layer you wish to edit, then click on the little arrow next to the word "normal" at the top of the layer palette. You will then see the list of blend modes and can select the one you choose.

 Opacity

To change the opacity of a layer in PSP8 | PSP9
Click on the slider next to the eye and drag to your desired level of opacity.

To change the opacity of a layer in PSPX | PSPX1 | PSPSX2
Click on the layer you wish to edit, then click on slider at the top:left of the layer paletteand drag to your desired opacity.



 Rename Layer

To change the name of a layer in PSP8 | PSP9 | PSPX | PSPX1 | PSPSX2
Right click on the on the layer name and select 'rename' from the menu, or simply double click the layer name.




 'X'out or un'X'

To 'X'out a layer in PSP8 | PSP9

Click on the eye of the layer and it will display a red 'X' over the eye to show that this layer is now "invisible".
To un'X' just click on the red 'X' so that the eye is visible again and thereby make the layer also visible.

To change the opacity of a layer in PSPX | PSPX1 | PSPSX2
Exactly as for PSP8 | PSP9 except the 'eye' is in a slightly different location and it displays a "no..." symbol instead of an 'X'
